Farming and Truth

As some of you know I have been spending the weekend on a farm. The farm is owned by the friend of my host father who, from his smile to the way he swats a fly for you, embodies “gracious host”. Former monk, revolutionary in the Gwangju Uprising, deep-thinker, now farmer. Together, the three of us drink heavily, eat a simple and delicious meal (most of which he has grown on his land), and talk. For an afternoon: life in its rawest equation. He tells me “emptiness is truth”.
